AT&T Stadium doesn't sneak up on you. You're driving through the flat suburban sprawl of Arlington — strip malls, chain restaurants, parking lots stretching to the horizon — and then suddenly there it is, a $1.2 billion structure so absurdly large it looks like it was dropped from orbit. Jerry Jones's monument to excess opened in 2009 and immediately redefined what an NFL stadium could be: a retractable roof spanning 105,000 square feet, end-zone doors that stand 120 feet tall and 180 feet wide, and the center-hung video board that weighed 1.2 million pounds and measured 160 feet long by 72 feet high — the largest in the NFL when it was built. For away fans, the experience is genuinely unlike any other venue in America.

What a Trip Here Costs, in Numbers

NFL tickets on Vivid Seats are listed for all 7 upcoming games, starting at $31 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Oct 8); the priciest game to get into starts at $149 (San Francisco 49ers, Nov 15).

A 3-star or better hotel within 15 miles of the stadium runs from $99 a night, based on 193 hotels.

The airport for this trip is Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW), 11 miles from the stadium.

The next 12 months bring 9 visiting teams, 1 of them based within 300 miles. The longest trip: San Francisco 49ers, 1,440 miles each way.

Ticket prices checked Oct 3; hotel rates checked Oct 2.

Ticket figures are each game's lowest listed price with estimated fees added. The hotel figure is the 25th-percentile nightly rate of the hotels sampled. Distances are straight-line, stadium to airport and stadium to stadium.

Getting to AT&T Stadium

Here is the single most important thing to know about AT&T Stadium: Arlington has no public transit to the stadium. None. The city sits almost exactly between Dallas and Fort Worth, and while the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) commuter rail connects the two downtowns, the closest station — CentrePort/DFW Airport — is still several miles from the stadium. You cannot walk from the train to the game. Arlington is a car city, and you need to plan accordingly.

From DFW Airport: 20-25 minutes by car under normal conditions, 35-45 minutes during event traffic. Take TX-360 South to I-30 West. This is the closest major airport and the one most visitors will fly into.

From Dallas Love Field: 30-40 minutes. Take I-30 West. Love Field is the Southwest Airlines hub, so if you're booking Southwest, this is your airport — just budget the extra drive time.

Rideshare is the most practical option if you're not renting a car. Uber and Lyft drop-off is at the designated rideshare lot (currently Lot 15 off Randol Mill Road). Normal pricing from Dallas runs $40-50, but game-day surge pricing routinely pushes fares to $80-150. Post-game pickups involve long waits — 45 minutes or more is common — from the same rideshare lot.

Arlington Trolley: On event days, a free shuttle connects participating Arlington hotels to the stadium, starting about 2.5 hours before kickoff and running until roughly 30 minutes after the event. If you're staying in Arlington, this is worth looking into.

Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New York Giants are all heading to AT&T Stadium this season. Plan your away trip:

AT&T Stadium Parking

AT&T Stadium operates roughly 12,000 on-site parking spaces spread across 15 numbered lots. This is a drive-in, park-in-a-lot venue — street parking does not meaningfully exist.

Lot pricing for Cowboys games:

  • Premium Lots 4-7 (closest to the stadium, quickest exit): $75-100. These sell out early through advance purchase.
  • Standard Lots 10-12 (tailgating allowed): $50-60.
  • Economy Lots 14-15 (10-15 minute walk): $25-35.
  • VIP/PSL Lots 1-3: $100-150, reserved for premium seat holders.

Most Cowboys parking is advance-purchase only via the Dallas Cowboys app or SeatGeek. Cash at the lot costs $10-20 more when available. For overflow, Globe Life Field garages open on Cowboys-only days at roughly $30-40.

Tailgating is a real part of the experience and worth building time for. Parking lots open five hours before kickoff. Charcoal and gas grills are permitted in designated tailgating spaces; deep fryers and open fires are not. No saving spaces, no amplified sound systems, no selling food or merch. Tailgating is allowed up to two hours after the game ends.

Privately operated surface lots along Division Street and Collins Street run $20-40 — arrive early and you'll have options.

Where to Stay Near AT&T Stadium

Downtown Dallas (best for nightlife and restaurants): The Uptown and Victory Park neighborhoods are your best bet — walkable, with actual bars, restaurants, and things to do the night before the game. Victory Park is near American Airlines Center and has solid hotel options at various price points. The trade-off: you're 20-25 minutes from the stadium by rideshare, and surge pricing will hit on game day.

Fort Worth (best value, most character): The Sundance Square area in downtown Fort Worth is genuinely charming, often cheaper than Dallas, and about the same distance to the stadium. Fort Worth has a distinct identity from Dallas — more Western, more laid-back — and is an underrated base for a weekend trip.

Arlington (closest, least interesting): The Live! by Loews hotel is adjacent to the Texas Live! complex and among the nearest hotels to the stadium — you can walk. The Sheraton Arlington is also within 10-15 minutes on foot. But Arlington is a sports complex surrounded by chain restaurants, not a neighborhood with independent character. Stay here if proximity is your only priority; otherwise, choose Dallas or Fort Worth and enjoy an actual city.

Things to Do Before a Game at AT&T Stadium

The epicenter of pre-game activity is Texas Live!, the 200,000-square-foot entertainment complex sitting between AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field. It's corporate and it's loud, but it works for what it is:

  • Lockhart Smokehouse brings Central Texas barbecue to the district — brisket and sausage served on butcher paper the traditional way. Named after Lockhart, TX, the barbecue capital of the state.
  • Troy's is Troy Aikman's signature restaurant — gourmet burgers, cocktails, live music on select nights.
  • Sports & Social is a two-story sports bar with a 30-foot media wall, bowling lanes, and interactive games. The most popular spot in the complex for pre-game drinks.
  • PBR Texas has a mechanical bull, a dance floor, and live music. Texas Live! goes 21-and-over only after 9 PM, so families should plan to visit earlier.

For food beyond the district, Gloria's Latin Cuisine on Collins Street is a short rideshare away and significantly better than anything you'll find inside the stadium. If you want proper Texas BBQ worth the trip on its own, drive a few minutes to one of Arlington's local spots rather than settling for chain options near the stadium.

AT&T Stadium Game Day Tips

Bag policy: AT&T Stadium enforces a strict clear bag policy. Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags no larger than 12" x 6" x 12", or one-gallon clear Ziploc-style bags. Non-clear clutch bags are allowed only if smaller than 4.5" x 6.5". There is no bag check at the stadium — leave non-compliant bags in your car.

Gates: Typically open 90 minutes to two hours before kickoff. Gate A on the north end and the southeast gates tend to move faster. Security lines at the main plaza entrances can be punishing for big events.

The roof: AT&T Stadium's retractable roof consists of two 800,000-pound fabric-clad panels that open or close in about 12 minutes via a custom rack-and-pinion system. When open, the entire playing field is visible from above. In practice, the roof stays closed for most events — especially in the Texas summer, when the air conditioning is your friend. The stadium runs cold regardless; bring a layer even if it's 100 degrees outside.

The video board: Budget a few minutes just to stare at it. The center-hung board spans 160 feet long by 72 feet high, suspended 90 feet above the playing surface. It can be raised or lowered up to 95 feet for different event configurations. For soccer events, the board is raised higher than its NFL position. It remains, genuinely, the most impressive piece of stadium technology most visitors will ever encounter.

Accessibility at AT&T Stadium

AT&T Stadium is fully ADA-compliant with wheelchair-accessible seating and companion seats available on every level, from field to upper concourse. Elevators at Entry A, E, F, and K provide access to all concourse levels. Accessible parking is available in designated areas with shorter walks to the gates, and power-assisted entry doors are installed at all main entrances. Family/companion restrooms with extra space for wheelchairs are located on every level. A limited number of house wheelchairs can transport guests from the gates to their seats, though bringing your own is recommended. The stadium also offers six sensory rooms and decompression areas for guests who may become overstimulated. For assistance, visit Guest Services behind Sections 219, 244, 420, or 451, or call (817) 892-4161.

AT&T Stadium Seating Guide

AT&T Stadium seats 80,000 for NFL games and can expand beyond 100,000 with standing room. For the 2026 World Cup, the stadium accommodated approximately 94,000 with the field level raised to meet FIFA's wider pitch dimensions.

For NFL (Cowboys games):

  • Field Level (Sections 101-150): The home sideline runs in front of Sections 109-112. Visitors' sideline is Sections 134-137. Rows 5-25 at midfield give you the best sightlines.
  • Club Level (Sections 200-250): Elevated enough to see full-field formations, with premium concourse access.
  • Mezzanine (Sections 301-350): Strong value — solid sightlines at moderate prices.
  • Upper Concourse (Sections 401-454): The most affordable seats. Despite the height, the video board compensates — you'll watch plenty of action on the screen regardless of where you sit.

For soccer (World Cup 2026):

  • Category 1 (lower bowl sideline, midfield): Best tactical view of the full pitch. Rows 5-25 along the touchline.
  • Category 2 (lower-bowl corners + upper sideline mezzanine): Good value with decent angles.
  • Category 3 (behind goal + upper bowl): Budget-friendly, but you'll lose depth perception on the far side of the pitch.
  • Sun warning: If the retractable roof is open, corner areas get direct sun for afternoon kickoffs. Factor this into your seat selection for noon and 3 PM matches.

The 300-level sideline is the strongest value pick for soccer — the elevation gives you a natural tactical view of the full pitch at a fraction of lower-bowl pricing.

Food and Drink at AT&T Stadium

AT&T Stadium leans hard into Texas-sized ambition with its concession menu, and it mostly delivers. The venue's most iconic recurring item is the Cowboys Cheesesteak — sliced sirloin steak with onions and queso — a Texas twist on a Philly classic that's been a staple for years. Beyond that, the menu refreshes every season with showstoppers: for 2025, standouts include the Rowdy Dog, a Sonoran-style bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with candied jalapeños, pico de gallo, and spicy crema ; the Frito Pie Burger, with classic Frito Pie flavors piled on a beef patty with chili, cheese, and pico de gallo ; and the Texas Burrito, a massive 17-inch tortilla filled with your choice of chicken or beef, fries, guacamole, queso fresco, and crema . For something sweeter, the Fritos Sundae — possibly the most show-stopping dessert item, combining salty Fritos with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream, topped with cinnamon and sugar drizzled with caramel, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles — is quintessentially Dallas and worth at least one order. On the drinks side, the Cowboys Michelada is a fan favorite made with Clamato and Miller Lite, often served in a collector's Sugar Skull Cup , and it's priced at $18.50 .

Pricing here is NFL-premium, full stop. The cheapest beer at AT&T Stadium was $10.50 in recent seasons, with an average beer running around $9.25 depending on brand and location — budget $10–$14 for most draft options. For food, a regular hot dog costs $7.31 and a chili hot dog also runs $7.31 , while more indulgent items climb quickly: brisket mac and cheese costs $16.50 and a birria quesadilla runs $25 . Non-alcoholic drinks aren't cheap either — water runs $6 and a soda about $7.04 for in-seat delivery . Plan on spending $20–$30 for a standard meal-and-drink combo if you're keeping it simple, and significantly more if you go for the signature items. On the policy side, all food, beverage, parking, and retail transactions are cashless, with major credit and debit cards as well as mobile pay accepted throughout the stadium . Outside food is largely prohibited, though you can bring one factory-sealed bottle of water per person into the stadium, up to 20 ounces . There is no fan-first or value-pricing program comparable to Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium model.

The local partnership worth calling out is with Revolver Brewing out of Granbury, Texas. The Dallas Cowboys partner with Revolver, a local craft brewery, to spotlight the company's beers, including Gridiron American Ale — a light, sessionable beer brewed by Cowboys and Legends executives alongside the Revolver team . It's a genuinely Texas option in a sea of macro lagers and the right call if you want something with a sense of place. Even more compelling from a community standpoint is the ongoing partnership with Paul Quinn College's WE Over Me Farm: produce from the WE/ME farm at Paul Quinn College — where the school famously converted its football field into an urban farm in 2010 — has been supplied to AT&T Stadium through a partnership with Legends since 2021, and that relationship continues to grow .

AT&T Stadium Away Fan Experience

The honest truth about AT&T Stadium is that the crowd is often more invested in the experience of being at AT&T Stadium than in the outcome of the game. For Cowboys games, the mix of tourists, corporate ticket holders, and casual fans means the atmosphere can feel more spectacle than hostile. Visiting NFL fans are unlikely to face serious trouble — this isn't Philadelphia.

There is no designated away section. Visitors' sideline seats (Sections 134-137 lower level) put you closest to the opposing team's bench if that matters to you. For soccer, away supporter sections are typically placed in the upper end opposite the main supporter end — you'll be visible, you'll be heard, and the acoustics in a space this large can actually build real noise when a crowd commits.

What visiting fans will notice quickly: the concourses are enormous and the concession options are plentiful but expensive. Water and food prices inside are significantly higher than average. The stadium allows one factory-sealed water bottle per person — take advantage of that.

Leaving AT&T Stadium After the Game

Post-game egress is the single worst part of the AT&T Stadium experience. With 80,000+ fans funneling onto I-30, expect 30-45 minutes of gridlock minimum, often longer for marquee events.

If you drove:

  • Premium lots (1-7) exit fastest — their exits feed directly onto Cowboys Way and Randol Mill Road before the larger surface lots empty.
  • The local move: Exit via Randol Mill Road east through the entertainment district side streets, avoiding the I-30 ramps until they clear. Division Street works if you're parked south or east — Collins Street backs up quickly.
  • Highway 360 South to I-20 is the best alternate if you're heading east and want to avoid I-30 entirely.
  • The patience play: Stay in the lot for 30-60 minutes after the final whistle. Tailgate, let the first wave clear, and your drive home drops from 90 minutes of frustration to a normal 20-minute ride.

If you're using rideshare: Head to the rideshare lot immediately after the final whistle — or wait 45-60 minutes. The in-between window is the worst: long waits with surge pricing at its peak. Use Waze or Google Maps for real-time rerouting; Arlington closes certain streets on event days and your GPS needs to know.

AT&T Stadium and the 2026 World Cup

AT&T Stadium hosted a tournament-high nine matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup — five group stage games, two Round of 32 matches, one Round of 16 match, and a semifinal — making it the busiest venue of the entire tournament.

Group Stage:

  • June 14 — Netherlands vs. Japan
  • June 17 — England vs. Croatia
  • June 22 — Argentina vs. Austria
  • June 25 — Japan vs. TBD
  • June 27 — Jordan vs. Argentina

Knockout Stage:

  • June 30 — Round of 32
  • July 3 — Round of 32
  • July 6 — Round of 16
  • July 14 — Semifinal

The semifinal on July 14 was the crown jewel of Dallas's hosting schedule. The Argentina vs. Austria and England vs. Croatia group stage matches drew massive international crowds, with DFW Airport's global connectivity making AT&T Stadium the most accessible World Cup venue by air in the tournament.

AT&T Stadium FAQ

Does AT&T Stadium have a clear bag policy? Yes. Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags no larger than 12" x 6" x 12", or one-gallon clear Ziploc-style bags. Non-clear clutch bags must be smaller than 4.5" x 6.5". There is no bag check at the stadium, so leave non-compliant bags in your vehicle. One factory-sealed water bottle per person is allowed.

Is there public transit to AT&T Stadium? No. Arlington does not have bus or rail service to the stadium. The nearest train station is CentrePort on the TRE line, but it's still several miles away and requires a rideshare or taxi from there. During the 2026 World Cup, FIFA provided charter bus shuttles from CentrePort to the stadium. For Cowboys games, you're driving or using rideshare.

What are the best parking lots at AT&T Stadium? Premium Lots 4-7 are closest and offer the fastest exit ($75-100 for Cowboys games). Standard Lots 10-12 allow tailgating ($50-60). Economy Lots 14-15 are cheapest ($25-35) but involve a 10-15 minute walk. Purchase in advance — most lots are sold out by game day. Privately operated lots along Division and Collins Streets run $20-40.

Where should I stay for a game at AT&T Stadium? Downtown Dallas (Uptown/Victory Park) or Fort Worth's Sundance Square area give you actual city life at a 20-25 minute rideshare from the stadium. Arlington hotels like Live! by Loews are walking distance but surrounded by chains. Fort Worth is often the best value with the most character.

How early should I arrive at AT&T Stadium? Gates open 90 minutes to two hours before kickoff. For Cowboys games, lots open five hours before kickoff if you're tailgating. For World Cup matches, expect enhanced security and longer entry lines — plan to arrive at least two hours before kickoff. Post-game traffic can take 45-90 minutes to clear, so factor that into your return plans.
