AWAY SUPPORTERS GUIDE

Liga MX Away Supporters Guide

Where visiting fans sit at every Liga MX stadium

Liga MX delivers some of North America's most intense and visually spectacular football — and for away fans, that intensity is very much felt in the stands. Every club designates a "Zona de Visitantes" (visitor zone), but the experience ranges from a compact corner allocation at Toluca's high-altitude Nemesio Díez to the south terrace of an 87,000-seat Estadio Azteca on a match night. Clásico Nacional (América vs. Chivas) and Regio Derby (Monterrey vs. Tigres) are the highest-security games in Mexican football and may restrict or ban away fans entirely. The cards below map the designated away section at every Liga MX club.

Away sections can be restricted or banned for high-risk Clásico matches. Always confirm with the host club before purchasing tickets or booking travel.

Club América
Estadio Azteca Mexico City, Mexico
Fondo Norte (north end, upper ring, away block)
Est. ~2,000–4,000 capacity

87,000-seat Azteca — the world's only stadium to host two World Cup finals. Away fans in the upper Fondo Norte. The Coapa ultras in the south create thunderous atmosphere. Metro Line 2 to Tasqueña, then tren ligero to Estadio Azteca. Clásico Nacional (América vs. Chivas) is the highest-security game in Mexico — away fans may be banned. Book early; Azteca frequently sells 80,000+.

Atlas FC
Estadio Jalisco Guadalajara, Mexico
Fondo Sur (south end, away block)
Est. ~1,000–2,000 capacity

Atmospheric 55,000-seat stadium shared with Chivas (though both clubs now use different primary venues — Atlas returned here after Estadio Akron became Chivas-only). Away fans in the Fondo Sur. Historic ground that hosted 1970 and 1986 World Cup matches. Guadalajara (GDL) is Mexico's second city and football heartland.

Chivas (Deportivo Guadalajara)
Estadio Akron Guadalajara, Mexico
Gol Norte (north end, away block)
Est. ~1,500–2,500 capacity

49,850-seat Chivas-owned stadium opened 2010. Away fans in the Gol Norte. The Clásico Tapatío (Chivas vs. Atlas) is the biggest away ban risk. Chivas-América (Clásico Nacional) may also restrict away fans. Bus or taxi from GDL city centre (~20 min). Chivas are the only all-Mexican-nationals club — historically unique.

Cruz Azul
Estadio Azteca Mexico City, Mexico
Fondo Norte (north end, upper ring, away block)
Est. ~2,000–3,000 capacity

Cruz Azul uses the 87,000-seat Azteca as their home stadium. Away fans in the upper Fondo Norte. The Clásico Capitalino (Cruz Azul vs. América) is highest risk for away fan restrictions. Metro Line 2 + tren ligero. Cruz Azul's blue army creates a loud atmosphere when in full voice.

Deportivo Toluca FC
Estadio Nemesio Díez Toluca, Mexico
Fondo Norte (north end, away allocation)
Est. ~1,000–1,500 capacity

33,025-seat ground at 2,680m altitude — highest Liga MX stadium. Away fans in the north end. The altitude makes Toluca one of the toughest venues physically in Mexico. Bus from Mexico City (~1.5 hrs). Red Devils are one of Liga MX's most decorated clubs with strong local identity.

FC Juárez
Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez Ciudad Juárez, Mexico
Fondo Sur (south end, away block)
