Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the rare venue that lives up to every superlative thrown at it. The retractable roof made of eight massive ETFE petals opens like a camera aperture. A 58-foot-tall, 1,075-foot-circumference LED Halo Board rings the interior like a crown. Hot dogs cost three dollars. It is an absurd building in the best possible way, and whether you are here for the Falcons, Atlanta United, or the World Cup, you are walking into one of the best stadium experiences in North America.

What a Trip Here Costs, in Numbers

NFL tickets on Vivid Seats are listed for all 7 upcoming games, starting at $44 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dec 27); the priciest game to get into starts at $206 (Chicago Bears, Oct 18). MLS tickets on Vivid Seats are listed for all 4 upcoming games, starting at $27 (FC Cincinnati, Oct 10); the priciest game to get into starts at $113 (Inter Miami CF, Oct 17).

A 3-star or better hotel within 15 miles of the stadium runs from $116 a night, based on 205 hotels.

The airport for this trip is Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International (ATL), 8 miles from the stadium.

The next 12 months bring 13 visiting teams, 1 of them based within 300 miles. The longest trip: San Francisco 49ers, 2,110 miles each way.

Ticket prices checked Oct 3; hotel rates checked Oct 2.

Ticket figures are each game's lowest listed price with estimated fees added. The hotel figure is the 25th-percentile nightly rate of the hotels sampled. Distances are straight-line, stadium to airport and stadium to stadium.

How to Get to Mercedes-Benz Stadium (MARTA, Driving, Rideshare)

MARTA is the answer. Take the Blue or Green line to Vine City station and you are a five-minute walk from the gates via a covered pedestrian bridge. From Hartsfield-Jackson, ride the Gold or Red line north to Five Points, transfer to a westbound Blue or Green train, and get off at Vine City. Total trip is about 25-30 minutes door to door. The GWCC/CNN Center station (one stop east) is actually marginally closer to certain gates on the stadium's east side and worth considering depending on your entry point.

If you are taking a rideshare, the designated drop-off is on Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard along the north side of the stadium. Do not let your driver circle the block looking for a closer spot -- Northside Drive turns into gridlock an hour before kickoff and you will be faster on foot. If you are coming from the airport and do not want to deal with MARTA, rideshare runs about $25-35 and takes 20 minutes without traffic, but on game day that number can double.

Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Fire FC are all heading to Mercedes-Benz Stadium this season. Plan your away trip:

Mercedes-Benz Stadium Parking: Lots, Prices, and Pre-Purchase Options

All parking at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is cashless and must be pre-purchased through ParkHub on the official stadium website. You cannot pay at the gate. The closest official lots -- Red Deck, Silver Deck, and Orange Deck -- run $40-60 for Falcons games and major events, with surface lots on the outer edge starting around $20-30. The Silver Deck connects directly to Gates 3 and 4, which is worth the premium if you want to skip the outdoor walk.

The Georgia World Congress Center lots to the north are a longer walk (10-12 minutes) but usually cheaper and easier to exit after the game. Third-party options through SpotHero or ParkWhiz can be found for $15-35 if you book a few days ahead, though availability dries up for big events. Avoid the unofficial "event parking" operators on side streets along Northside Drive unless you enjoy gambling with your vehicle.

Where to Stay Near Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Midtown is the sweet spot. Hotels along Peachtree Street between 10th and 14th are a 10-15 minute rideshare from the stadium, and you are within walking distance of Atlanta's best restaurants and bars rather than the convention center wasteland that surrounds the Benz. Midtown gives you an actual neighborhood to explore when you are not at the game.

Downtown is the convenience play -- the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center and the Westin Peachtree Plaza are both within a 10-15 minute walk of the stadium, and you can stumble home after the final whistle without opening an app. But outside of event corridors, downtown Atlanta can feel empty in a way that makes you wonder where everyone went.

Buckhead, further north, has upscale hotel options and excellent dining but puts you 20-30 minutes from the stadium by rideshare. Fine for a multi-day trip where the game is one piece of a larger Atlanta visit, but not ideal if your whole trip revolves around match day.

Best Bars and Restaurants Near Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Der Biergarten on Luckie Street is a legitimate German beer garden about a 10-minute walk north of the stadium -- big steins, sausages, communal tables, and enough space that you will not feel crushed even on a busy game day. It is the most popular pregame spot for a reason.

Hudson Grille near Centennial Olympic Park has a huge draft list, an enormous patio, and televisions covering every angle. Solid for groups who want to settle in early and not rush.

For Atlanta United matches specifically, the real pregame happens in the tailgate lots south of the stadium. The supporters groups -- Footie Mob, Terminus Legion, Resurgence, and The Faction -- each run their own sections with food trucks, DJs, kick-abouts, and enough energy that you will wonder why you bothered looking at restaurants. Even as an away fan, the tailgate scene is welcoming as long as you are not actively antagonizing people.

If you want something more upscale, RT60 at Reverb by Hard Rock is a rooftop bar directly across from the stadium with skyline views and the Benz glowing in the background. Good cocktails, good vibe, more expensive than it needs to be.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium Bag Policy, Gates, and Game Day Tips

Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff for both NFL and MLS events. The stadium has eight "petal" gate entrances wrapping around the building. Gate 1 is the main entrance and always the most congested. Gates 4 and 5 on the north side consistently move faster -- use those if you can.

Clear bag policy is strictly enforced: one clear plastic bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12", or a small non-clear clutch no larger than 4.5" x 6.5". No exceptions. If you show up with a regular backpack, there is a bag check service outside the stadium (The Mobile Locker Company) for a fee, but the line for that is its own adventure.

The headline here is the fan-first concession pricing. This is not marketing spin -- Mercedes-Benz Stadium genuinely sells $3 hot dogs, $5 draft beers, $5 cheeseburgers, and $2 sodas. Owner Arthur Blank committed to this pricing model when the stadium opened in 2017 and has maintained it through Super Bowls, College Football Playoff championships, and held through the 2026 World Cup. It is one of the few stadiums in America where buying food inside is not an act of financial self-harm.

The stadium is fully cashless. Bring a card or use mobile pay.

Accessibility at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is one of the most accessible venues in the country. Wheelchair and companion seating with enhanced sightlines is available on every level, and you can purchase accessible seats directly through Ticketmaster by toggling the "show accessible tickets" filter. Only one companion seat is required to be immediately adjacent to the wheelchair space.

Wheelchair-accessible entry is available at Gates 1, 2, the floor entry, North Club, North Suite, and Silver Deck. Public elevators are located at sections 104, 116, 122, and 133, with premium club wheelchair lifts also available. If you need a wheelchair escort from your entry gate to your seat, ask any team member or stop at a Guest Services Center -- Mobility Ambassadors will arrange the trip and return service when you leave. You can also store your personal mobility device at any Guest Services Center during the event.

ADA parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis across all parking decks and lots. On major event days, complimentary ADA shuttles run from the Blue Lot and Yellow Lot to the Vine City area near Gate 1.

The stadium is also a KultureCity Sensory Inclusive facility. A dedicated sensory room is available for guests who need a quieter environment, and sensory bags with noise-canceling headphones and fidget tools can be borrowed from Guest Services. Assistive listening devices, open captioning, and sign language interpreter services are also available upon request. For advance arrangements, call Guest Services at (470) 341-5000.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium Seating Guide: Best Seats and Levels

Mercedes-Benz Stadium has four seating levels: 100 (lower bowl), 200 (club level), 300 (mezzanine), and 400 (upper deck). Standard capacity is 71,000 for football, expandable to 75,000 for major events.

The sightlines are excellent almost everywhere thanks to the steep bowl design. For NFL games, sections 112-121 along the sideline in the lower bowl are the premium seats with the best angles. The 200-level club sections (C108-C112 on the Falcons sideline, C126-C130 on the visitor side) offer padded seats, exclusive lounges, and arguably the best overall views in the building.

For best value, upper-level sections 215-230 on the sideline give you a full-field view at a fraction of lower-bowl prices. The Halo Board is visible from every seat in the building -- at 61,900 square feet with over 37 million LEDs, you will not miss a replay regardless of where you sit.

For Atlanta United matches, the stadium typically curtains off the upper deck and reduces capacity to around 42,500, which makes the whole building feel more intimate and significantly louder. The supporter sections (101-103 and 135-136) are behind the goals -- stay away from those unless you are a Five Stripes fan.

Food and Drink at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Mercedes-Benz Stadium doesn't have a single signature item the way Fenway has its Franks — instead, its entire concessions program is the signature. Since opening in 2017, the stadium introduced its "Fan First" pricing model, and Atlanta Falcons fans have been pleasantly content with concession prices ever since. The core menu prices are legitimately shocking by NFL standards: cheeseburgers and draft beers cost $5, french fries and hot dogs cost $3, and soda, pretzels, and popcorn cost $2. Beyond the staples, the BBQ nachos are a must-try — loaded with smoked pulled chicken or pulled pork, all-purpose rub, and 4 Rivers signature sauce over a bed of nacho chips, they represent the best intersection of price and quality in the building. The stadium also introduces a one-time-only signature "wow" dish each game, with past examples including the "Rack O Ribs Volcano" — a full rack of St. Louis-style ribs stuffed with a pound of mac and cheese on a bed of potato chips, served in a box shaped like the stadium. For $20, a family can purchase a slice of pizza, a hot dog, a Bavarian pretzel, popcorn, nachos with cheese, chicken tenders and fries, and a refillable soda — a bundle that would cost three times as much at most NFL venues.

On the beverage side, draft beers run $5 for a small domestic, $6 for a small premium, $9 for a large domestic, and $11 for a large premium. Sodas are $2 with free refills. The critical policy to understand: MBS does not dynamically price food and beverage based on events — all pricing remains the same whether you're attending a regular-season Falcons game, an Atlanta United match, or the Super Bowl. That's not a marketing line; it held true even for the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship. The stadium is cashless, so load up a card or use your phone before you get in line.

The standout local partnership worth calling out is 4 Rivers Smokehouse, the beloved Central Florida-turned-regional BBQ chain. 4 Rivers BBQ is currently served at Mercedes-Benz Stadium , bringing genuine wood-smoked credibility — brisket, pulled pork, and their signature sauce — to the concourse. It's the kind of regional partner that elevates the food beyond generic stadium fare. Additional vendors like Farm Burger, The Mac Shack, and Irie Mon Caribbean Café round out the options , offering organic burgers, mac-and-cheese variations, and Jamaican dishes for fans who want something beyond a hot dog. Frankly, Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the best place in the NFL to eat on a budget — and it isn't particularly close.

Falcons vs. Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium: Two Different Game-Day Experiences

Same building, completely different experience.

Falcons games feel like a proper NFL production: polished, loud, corporate. The full 71,000+ capacity is open, the Halo Board runs highlight packages and sponsored content, and the crowd is a mix of diehards and casual fans enjoying a Sunday outing. The atmosphere is good -- Mercedes-Benz Stadium is one of the better NFL venues -- but it is recognizably an NFL game. Halftime means bathroom lines and concession runs.

Atlanta United matches are something else entirely. The upper deck is curtained off, compressing 42,500 people into the lower bowl, and the acoustic difference is dramatic. The Five Stripes have the largest supporters section in MLS -- roughly 5,000 standing-room seats behind the goal where Footie Mob, Terminus Legion, Resurgence, and The Faction maintain constant singing, drumming, flag-waving, and tifo displays for 90 minutes straight. When the roof is closed and United score, the noise hits you physically in a way that does not happen at many soccer venues anywhere, let alone in MLS.

The tailgate culture before United matches has no NFL equivalent at this stadium. The parking lots transform into a block party with food trucks, DJs, and organized supporter group sections that feel more like a South American football festival than an American sporting event. Atlanta regularly leads MLS in attendance and has since their first season -- this is not a bandwagon fanbase.

If you are visiting Atlanta and can only attend one event, an Atlanta United match on a Saturday night with the roof closed is the move. The Falcons are great, but United's atmosphere is genuinely world-class.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium for Away Fans

For NFL games, there is no designated away section. Wear your colors wherever you sit -- Atlanta fans are hospitable and trash talk stays verbal. The Falcons crowd runs hot during division games (Saints especially) but you will not feel unsafe.

For MLS matches, away fans are typically placed in Section 106 in the south end lower bowl. Avoid sections 101-103 and 135-136 (home supporter sections) unless you want to be surrounded by people who will make their displeasure with your presence very clear through song. The Five Stripes supporters are passionate, not violent, but you will not enjoy the experience if you are wearing the wrong shirt in their section.

Sightlines from 106 are perfectly fine -- you are in the lower bowl behind the goal, slightly off-center, with a clear view of the pitch and the Halo Board above. It is not a punishment seat.

Getting Out

Post-game exit is where MARTA earns its keep. Vine City station handles the crush reasonably well, with MARTA running extra trains after major events. Expect a 15-20 minute wait on the platform after a sellout, but you will be moving before the parking lots have even started to clear.

If you drove, be patient. Northside Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive back up immediately, and the close-in lots can take 30-45 minutes just to exit. The GWCC lots to the north empty faster because they have more exit routes. If you parked in the Silver Deck, you are connected to the stadium but you are also trapped in the deck until traffic clears.

Rideshare pickup moves to designated zones after the game -- check the Mercedes-Benz Stadium app or signage for current locations, as they shift depending on the event. Walking 5-10 minutes away from the stadium before requesting a ride will cut your wait time and surge pricing significantly.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the 2026 World Cup

Mercedes-Benz Stadium hosted eight World Cup matches — five group stage games, a Round of 32 match, a Round of 16 match, and a semifinal. It was one of the premier venues in the tournament. For FIFA purposes, the stadium was temporarily rebranded as "Atlanta Stadium" due to FIFA's ban on corporate naming rights, though the iconic Mercedes-Benz star on the retractable roof stayed — FIFA granted a one-of-a-kind exception after determining that covering it would risk damaging the roof mechanism.

Spain played two group matches in Atlanta, making the city a destination for La Roja supporters. Morocco, coming off their historic 2022 semifinal run, brought a massive and vocal traveling support. The semifinal on July 15 with the roof closed produced an extraordinary atmosphere. Arthur Blank maintained the stadium's fan-first concession pricing through the tournament — three-dollar hot dogs at a World Cup semifinal. Only in Atlanta.

FAQ

Does Mercedes-Benz Stadium enforce a clear bag policy? Yes, strictly. One clear plastic bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12", or one small non-clear clutch no larger than 4.5" x 6.5". A standard one-gallon clear freezer bag also works. Everything else gets turned away or checked with The Mobile Locker Company outside the stadium for a fee.

Where do away fans sit? For Atlanta United MLS matches, away supporters are typically assigned to Section 106 in the south end lower bowl. Avoid the home supporter sections (101-103 and 135-136). For Falcons NFL games, there is no formal away section -- sit wherever your ticket puts you.

Is the food really that cheap? Yes. Hot dogs are $3, draft beers and cheeseburgers are $5, sodas and pretzels are $2. This pricing has held since 2017 through Super Bowls, championship games, and the 2026 World Cup. It is not a gimmick.

How early should I arrive? Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff. For a stress-free experience, plan to be at your gate 60-75 minutes before the event. If you are taking MARTA, add 10-15 minutes of buffer for platform waits on game day. For Atlanta United matches, arriving two hours early lets you catch the tailgate scene in the parking lots, which is half the experience.

Can I drive or should I take MARTA? Take MARTA. Vine City station is a five-minute walk from the gates, the ride from the airport is 25-30 minutes, and you skip all parking costs and post-game traffic. If you insist on driving, all parking is cashless and must be pre-purchased through ParkHub -- you cannot pay at the gate. Official lots run $20-60 depending on proximity and event size.
