Q2 Stadium is one of the best soccer-specific venues built in North America this century — intimate enough that the noise has nowhere to go, architecturally striking enough that you'll snap a photo before you even find your seat. Designed by Gensler and built for $260 million, it features a full canopy that covers every seat while leaving the pitch open to the Texas sky — the first MLS stadium built to meet FIFA's roof coverage requirements. For away fans, it's a genuinely good road trip: the sightlines are excellent everywhere, the concessions are surprisingly interesting, and Austin as a city will not disappoint you on either side of the whistle.

What a Trip Here Costs, in Numbers

MLS tickets on Vivid Seats are listed for all 4 upcoming games, starting at $15 (Real Salt Lake, Oct 28); the priciest game to get into starts at $20 (Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Oct 17).

A 3-star or better hotel within 15 miles of the stadium runs from $97 a night, based on 174 hotels.

The airport for this trip is Austin Bergstrom International (AUS), 14 miles from the stadium.

The next 12 months bring 4 visiting teams, none of them based within 300 miles. The longest trip: Vancouver Whitecaps FC, 1,860 miles each way.

Ticket prices checked Oct 3; hotel rates checked Oct 2.

Ticket figures are each game's lowest listed price with estimated fees added. The hotel figure is the 25th-percentile nightly rate of the hotels sampled. Distances are straight-line, stadium to airport and stadium to stadium.

How to Get to Q2 Stadium (Commuter Rail, Bus, Driving, Rideshare)

The transit situation at Q2 dramatically improved in 2024. McKalla Station is a CapMetro Rail stop built specifically to provide convenient access to Q2 Stadium, opened on February 24, 2024. Route 550, also known as the Red Line, has 10 stations from Downtown to Leander, with McKalla (Q2 Stadium) among them. That means you can board at the Downtown Austin station and ride directly to the stadium's front door — no crossing roads, no complicated walk. A single ride costs $3.50. Regular service runs Monday–Thursday 5 a.m.–8 p.m. and Friday–Saturday until midnight, every 15–30 minutes. CapMetro operates special event Rail service to McKalla Station with supplemental trains on standby to support crowds for events.

If you're coming by bus, Rapid 803 operates at least every 8 minutes on matchdays with drop-off in front of the stadium. Bus connections also include CapMetro routes 3, 383, and 392.

By car, Q2 sits off MoPac Expressway (Loop 1) in North Austin's North Burnet neighborhood. Take the Braker Lane exit and follow event signage. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is 17 miles southeast of the stadium, about 20–30 minutes by car depending on traffic. There is no direct transit connection from AUS — rideshare runs $25–$40. From downtown Austin, expect $15–$25 by rideshare.

Nashville SC, Portland Timbers, and Real Salt Lake are all heading to Q2 Stadium this season. Plan your away trip:

Q2 Stadium Parking: Lots, Prices, and Best Options

Don't count on winging parking at Q2. On-site parking is limited; Q2 uses a distributed model with designated lots throughout the North Burnet area at $20–$30. Q2 Stadium offers limited on-site parking across three primary lots (SciPlay, East, and Southwest), with approximately 850 spaces predominantly assigned to season ticket holders. Remote lots with shuttle service are available along MoPac — pre-purchase through the Austin FC app, as walk-up availability is not guaranteed.

The honest advice: take the Red Line. Parking is tight, lots sell out in advance, and the post-game traffic on Braker and MoPac is genuinely miserable. If you must drive, buy a lot in advance through the Austin FC app and arrive at least 90 minutes before kickoff. The North lots across Braker Lane are about a 10-minute walk and tend to have more space than the South lot.

Where to Stay Near Q2 Stadium

Q2 is in North Austin — not downtown, not the Rainey Street corridor. For a game-centric stay with easy access to the stadium and a neighborhood that doesn't roll up the sidewalks at 9 p.m., book near The Domain. Q2 Stadium is located at 10414 McKalla Place in the North Burnet area, near The Domain shopping and entertainment district. Between The Domain and Domain NORTHSIDE, there are more than 225 stores, restaurants, bars, and spas. The Domain has several hotels (Westin, Archer, Aloft) within a 10–15 minute walk of the stadium. It's corporate-ish compared to downtown Austin, but the convenience on matchday is unbeatable — and you're not fighting Congress Avenue bar traffic to get to bed. Budget travelers can find more affordable options along North Lamar or MoPac, 10–15 minutes south, and just hop on the Red Line or bus.

Best Bars and Restaurants Near Q2 Stadium

Slab BBQ and Beer — About a half-mile northwest on West Braker Lane, this is the logical pre-game destination. Slab BBQ and Beer offers classic Texas BBQ, loaded sandwiches, and craft beer, and is close enough to Q2 that it's a natural spot before or after the game. Show up early — it fills up on matchdays.

Austin Beerworks — One of the most well-known and award-winning breweries in North Austin. Located on Industrial Terrace, it's a short rideshare if you don't want to walk, with a spacious patio and serious beer selection. A much better draft lineup than you'll find inside the stadium.

Barley Swine — A popular farm-to-table restaurant serving seasonal American tasting menus, located at 6555 Burnet Rd. This is the "splurge dinner before the match" option — reservations strongly recommended.

Rock Rose District (Domain NORTHSIDE) — Domain NORTHSIDE's Rock Rose District is home to 20+ restaurants and bars along the strip. Options include Velvet Taco, Culinary Dropout, and a rotating cast of spots that stay busy well past final whistle. Good for post-game if you want variety without a plan.

Q2 Stadium Bag Policy, Gates, and Game Day Tips

The bag policy here is stricter than most MLS venues, so read it before you pack. Q2 Stadium prohibits all bags, backpacks, and other carriers — including clear bags. Exemptions apply for clutch-size purses/bags equal to or smaller than the size of your hand (approximately 8"×5"×1"). Medical and childcare bags are permitted after inspection. Bag check lockers cost $10, open 45 minutes before gates, and remain available for one hour after the event. Lockers are first-come, first-served at the Northwest and Southwest Gates.

Gate opening times generally occur 90 minutes prior to the scheduled start for Austin FC matches. The stadium is fully cashless — Q2 Stadium is a cashless facility; any guests needing to convert cash should visit the Guest Services Center on the Main Concourse (100) behind Section 124 to receive ATXFC Cash. Sort this out before you queue for a beer. Mobile tickets only — download the Austin FC app in advance, not in the parking lot.

Q2 Stadium Accessibility: ADA Seating, Elevators, and Accessible Entry

Q2 Stadium was designed as an inclusive, fan-friendly stadium. There are ramps around the exterior to assist in transition to elevated positions, elevators are available in the North and South of the stadium for vertical circulation, and the main concourse is a 360-degree, at-grade concourse to allow for ease of mobility.

Other accessibility features include closed captioning services, assisted listening devices available at Guest Services (Main Concourse behind Section 124), a Sensory Room near First Aid and Guest Services Center, and MetroAccess drop areas near the stadium. Q2 Stadium provides wheelchair escort services at all events; wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Wheelchair-accessible seating is available throughout the venue, ensuring optimal viewing experiences for guests with mobility needs.

Q2 Stadium Seating Guide: Best Seats for Away Fans

The two stands positioned behind the goals are single-tiered, with the side stands two-tiered — all four of them are tight to the pitch with a sharp incline to the back rows. The incline is your friend. Even the upper rows feel close to the action because the bowl geometry works.

Away fans are not confined to a single section; visiting supporters are typically mixed into the general bowl, usually in the East side stands (the 200-level sideline sections). These offer excellent sightlines straight down the touchline. Avoid sitting inside or adjacent to the Verde Wall — the Verde Wall is a 3,300-capacity safe-standing supporters section at the south end and one of the most intimidating sections in MLS, filled from the moment gates open by Los Verdes and other supporter groups. You won't enjoy yourself there as a neutral or away fan. The North End sections behind the goal are calmer, closer to the Beer Hall, and still offer solid angles.

Food and Drink at Q2 Stadium

Q2's concessions go beyond typical stadium fare — Michelin-starred La Barbecue has a stand, alongside Chinese bao buns at Bao'd Up, Argentinian empanadas at Little Patagonia, shawarma wraps at Shawarma Point, and Mexican tacos at OneTaco. Budget-conscious fans can find $7 domestic and $8 premium 12-ounce beers at certain value concession spots. The stadium is cashless, so tap-to-pay or the Austin FC app for mobile ordering — mobile ordering is available for food and beverages, allowing fans to skip lines and have items delivered to their seats.

Q2 Stadium for Away Fans

Q2 is a genuinely welcoming place to visit as long as you're not sitting in front of Los Verdes with an opposition scarf. Austin FC fans are loud, organized, and stadium-proud — Austin FC holds the MLS consecutive sellout record of 89 straight home regular season and playoff games as of early 2026 — so you are walking into a place people care about deeply. The noise under that canopy is real: the roof comes a long way over the crowd, which adds to the atmosphere as the noise rattles back down to the field. The thing first-time visitors don't expect is how quickly the venue fills. Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff, and the Beer Hall upstairs is packed 45 minutes out. Get there early, grab a spot in the North Pavilion Beer Hall, and you'll have a fine evening even if your team loses.

Getting Out of Q2 Stadium After the Game

By train: The Red Line is your cleanest exit. The platform closest to the stadium is for southbound trains; riders must cross the tracks at designated crossings to board northbound trains, and on gamedays CapMetro staff guide riders to the correct train. CapMetro runs regular Rail service with supplemental trains to get you home after the game ends. Expect a 10–20 minute wait post-whistle. Opinionated tip: wait in the Beer Hall until the initial surge clears (about 15 minutes after the final whistle), then walk to the platform — trains will still be running and the queue will be half the size.

By car: The lots directly adjacent to the stadium are the last to clear. MoPac southbound backs up immediately; if you're heading downtown, the MoPac Express Lane (toll) can save you 15–20 minutes. Budget 30–45 minutes before you're moving freely. The North lots across Braker Lane empty marginally faster because they have a second exit point.

By rideshare: Post-match surge pricing is heavy — walk to The Domain and wait 15 minutes for rates to normalize, or grab a drink and let traffic clear. The official rideshare pickup area after the game is on Delta Drive; when walking to the pickup area from Q2 Stadium, use designated crossings to cross the tracks at McKalla Station. The Domain walk (roughly 10 minutes) will save you $8–12 on surge pricing and get you a driver faster.
