Vanderbilt's stadium sits on a university campus surrounded by Centennial Park, a full-scale replica of the Parthenon, and some of Nashville's most walkable neighborhoods — which tells you something right away about what kind of gameday this is. FirstBank Stadium is the smallest in the Southeastern Conference , which means you're not marching into a 100,000-seat cathedral; you're walking onto a tight, horseshoe-shaped field tucked inside a real city. For away fans, that's actually good news: the sightlines are intimate, the exits are manageable, and Nashville itself picks up the slack for anything the venue can't provide.

What a Trip Here Costs, in Numbers

College football tickets on Vivid Seats are listed for all 4 upcoming games, starting at $63 (Arkansas Razorbacks, Oct 17); the priciest game to get into starts at $226 (Tennessee Volunteers, Nov 28).

A 3-star or better hotel within 15 miles of the stadium runs from $129 a night, based on 174 hotels.

The airport for this trip is Nashville International (BNA), 7 miles from the stadium.

The next 12 months bring 4 visiting teams, 3 of them based within 300 miles. The longest trip: Arkansas Razorbacks, 410 miles each way.

Ticket prices checked Oct 3; hotel rates checked Oct 2.

Ticket figures are each game's lowest listed price with estimated fees added. The hotel figure is the 25th-percentile nightly rate of the hotels sampled. Distances are straight-line, stadium to airport and stadium to stadium.

How to Get to Vanderbilt Stadium (Bus, Driving, Rideshare)

Nashville doesn't have a subway, so your transit options are bus or rideshare. Four WeGo routes closely serve Vanderbilt's campus. The most direct is the WeGo Route 3 – West End bus, which runs from Central 5th Ave downtown and ends out past campus along the West End corridor. Catch it downtown and ride west; the stop at West End Ave & 25th Ave S drops you about a 5-minute walk from the stadium gates. On a normal weekday, headways are 20–30 minutes — confirm game-day frequency on the WeGo app before you go, as schedules can vary.

By car, from Nashville International Airport (BNA), take I-40 west to exit 209A, turn left onto Broadway, follow Broadway and veer right to West End Avenue, then turn left on 25th Avenue — the stadium is on the right. Allow approximately thirty minutes driving time from the airport to Vanderbilt University. That estimate is traffic-light; during a Saturday game window, budget 45 minutes.

For rideshare, there are specific rideshare drop-off locations on both the east side and west side of the stadium. The west side drop-off is at 28th Ave and Vanderbilt Place, near the Frist Family Gate. East side is at 25th Ave and Vanderbilt Place by Memorial Gym. Tell your driver which side your seats are on.

Transit: The WeGo Route 3 runs back toward downtown along West End Avenue. After the game, walk east to the stop at West End & 25th Ave; buses resume on regular schedule but won't be running surge service specifically for the game. Expect a 15–25 minute wait and a standing-room ride back to lower Broadway. The bus option rewards patience — wait 20 minutes post-whistle for the immediate crush to thin, then walk to the stop.

Driving: The 25th Ave Garage and West Garage both exit onto 25th Avenue South. The garage exits funnel onto West End Avenue, which backs up immediately after the final whistle — particularly heading east toward downtown. Your best move is to sit in the car for 20–30 minutes, then pull out when traffic is actually moving. Trying to force it in the first 15 minutes is how you spend an hour going nowhere. Heading west on West End toward Belle Meade clears faster than the downtown direction.

Rideshare: Surge pricing kicks in within minutes of the final whistle. There are designated rideshare pickup zones on both the east and west sides of the stadium. The west side pickup at 28th Ave & Vanderbilt Place tends to have shorter waits because the crowd skews east toward the garages. Walk a block or two off the main gate flow before opening your app — you'll get a faster pickup and a lower surge. Wait at least 15 minutes after the game ends before requesting, or you're paying peak surge for the privilege of sitting in a car going nowhere.

Pro tip: If you're heading to Broadway after the game, walk the 1.5 miles east along West End Avenue. It takes 25–30 minutes, costs nothing, and you'll be inside a bar before most drivers have exited the garage.

Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Ole Miss Rebels are all heading to Vanderbilt Stadium this season. Plan your away trip:

Tailgating and Parking at Vanderbilt Stadium

Be direct about it: parking here is limited. On-campus parking is limited and most spots are donor-reserved. Public parking can be found at Music Row lots and West End Avenue garages. Vanderbilt Medical Center parking is also available on weekends.

Game day parking is available in the 25th Avenue Garage and the West Garage. These garages open at 8 a.m. if kickoff is before 4 p.m., and at noon for later games. Reserved lots (Lots 1, 2, 4, 72C, 72B, and 298A) open and close based on kickoff time. The garages are your safest bet for a pre-purchased spot; third-party secondary market passes average around $40–75 depending on the opponent. If you're tempted to park in a commercial or restaurant lot, don't — you will get towed or booted, and both come with a hefty fee. For big SEC matchups, arrive at least 90 minutes early or go rideshare and skip the whole headache.

Where to Stay Near Vanderbilt Stadium

The West End neighborhood is your sweet spot. Vanderbilt is in the West End neighborhood, about five miles west of downtown Nashville's main tourist attractions. That distance is a feature, not a bug — you're away from the $400-a-night Broadway madness and within walking distance of the stadium.

The Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University sits literally on the edge of campus, close enough that you can glimpse the stadium from the hotel. It's the most convenient option and usually runs $180–250 on a game weekend. The Loews Nashville Hotel on West End Avenue is less than a mile from the stadium and also convenient to nearby dining. If you want something with more Nashville personality, the Graduate Nashville (formerly styled after Dolly Parton) features a rooftop bar called White Limozeen and is a rideshare away on lower Broadway. For the budget-minded, Hillsboro Village has mid-range chain options around 21st Avenue that won't drain your wallet before kickoff.

Where to Eat and Drink at Vanderbilt Stadium

Double Dogs (Hillsboro Village) — Double Dogs is a family-friendly bar and restaurant in Hillsboro Village with plenty of TVs, a large projection wall for popular games, and individual audio boxes for each table. This is the spot for pregame. It's casual, it fills up with a mix of fans, and it won't feel like a tourist trap.

The Villager Tavern (Hillsboro Village) — The Villager Tavern in Hillsboro Village is a no-frills dive popular with older alumni. The beer is cold, the crowd is welcoming, and it's the kind of place that has been doing this for decades. No pretense.

Tavern (West End) — Tavern made a return to the local scene in 2024 after a long hiatus, with a fresh interior and an emphasis on craft cocktails, serving lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch with a Wagyu Burger available at every meal. It's a step up in vibe and price, but worth it before a big SEC game.

Pancake Pantry (21st Ave) — A longtime breakfast favorite located just a few blocks from campus on 21st Avenue. Get there before 9 a.m. on game day or you will wait in line. Worth it every single time.

Once inside the stadium, fans will find plenty of options to keep the party going.

Local favorites have been brought in as concession vendors, including Daddy's Dogs, Five Points Pizza, Ajax Turner, Jackalope Brewing, Mission BBQ, and Kernels Nashville Corn. Drinks run $11–15 (beer and cocktails), with stadium-classic items like hot dogs at $6, nachos at $6, and Pepsi drinks around $10. All concession stands operate on a cashless basis, so leave the cash in the car. The local vendor mix — Mission BBQ and Five Points Pizza especially — is a genuine step above most SEC concourses and worth budgeting for.

Vanderbilt Stadium Bag Policy, Gates, and Game Day Tips

Each fan is limited to one clear plastic bag no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear re-sealable plastic storage bag. Fans are also allowed a small clutch purse not to exceed 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. This is SEC-wide standard policy. Outside food and beverages are no longer allowed, including bottled water that was temporarily permitted during the 2023–24 construction seasons.

Gates open two hours prior to kickoff, and fans without a bag can use the "Express Lines" at each gate — use this. It's a meaningful time saver.

New in 2024: fans can now enter through north end zone gates (Gate 1 at the NW corner; Gate 4 at the NE corner) in addition to the Frist Family Gate near Natchez Trace and Vanderbilt Place, and Memorial Gymnasium gates. Away fans in sections U and V on the east side should target Gate 3 or Gate 4 off 25th Avenue South. Tickets are distributed digitally and must be scanned via mobile phone; download to your wallet before arriving since cell service can be spotty at the gate.

Vanderbilt Stadium Accessibility: ADA Seating, Elevators, and Accessible Entry

Wheelchair and companion seating is available throughout the stadium. Fans should call (615) 322-4653 to arrange seating, and are encouraged to enter through the gate closest to their seating area. ADA vehicle drop-off for east-side seats (Sections P–V and North End Zone) is at the corner of 25th Avenue and Vanderbilt Place near Memorial Gymnasium; west-side drop-off is at 28th Avenue and Vanderbilt Place near the Frist Family Gate.

ADA shuttle service is available, beginning when gates open (two hours before kickoff), running until the end of the first quarter, then resuming after the third quarter and continuing for 30 minutes following the end of the game. The press box and several premium areas have elevator access. A quiet room is available on the east concourse inside the first aid room near Section P — a thoughtful sensory accommodation that not every SEC venue offers.

Vanderbilt Stadium Away Fan Guide: Seating, Atmosphere, and What to Expect

The visitor sideline is in front of sections R–T on the east side, and the visiting team fan sections are in sections U and V. If you want to be with your people, that's your home base. The lower rows of sections U and V put you right at the open north end of the horseshoe — solid view of the full field, and on early-morning or overcast games the lack of shade is irrelevant.

There aren't a lot of shaded seat options at Vanderbilt Stadium; you'll find covered seating in rows 52 and above in section E, which is the home side. If you're going to a noon or afternoon game in September, the Tennessee sun is relentless on the east sideline — pack sunscreen. Mid-row seats in sections R, S, or T around the 30–40 yard lines offer the best sightlines for neutral fans or visiting supporters who don't need to be in the away section cluster.

Away fans venturing into Vanderbilt Stadium should prepare for a notably different experience than the home sections offer.

Vanderbilt fans have a reputation for being among the more hospitable in the SEC, and it's mostly earned. This is a small, smart, well-traveled fanbase that went through 40 years of losing without becoming bitter about it — and that shapes how they treat guests. Commodore fans are widely known for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship, and the stadium's stated goal is to maintain a safe and fun atmosphere for visiting fans as well. In practice: you're not going to get beer poured on you here. That said, since Vanderbilt's stunning 40–35 upset over #1 Alabama in October 2024 — their first win over a top-ranked team ever, after which students tore down the goalposts and carried them into the Cumberland River — there's a new confidence in this place. The atmosphere has shifted. Don't expect a pushover crowd anymore.
