Halal Food Near US Stadiums

Where to find halal food near major stadiums and arenas across the US, Canada and Mexico — restaurants, neighbourhoods, what is available inside the ground, and practical tips.

Finding halal food near a stadium ranges from effortless to genuinely difficult depending on the city. New York, Houston and Vancouver are easy. Kansas City and Monterrey take planning.

This is a city-by-city guide to the neighbourhoods, restaurants and stadium options in the major North American sports cities, with practical notes on what you can actually get inside the ground.

Before You Go

  • Download apps before you travel: Zabihah (53,000+ halal restaurants worldwide), HalalTrip, and Muslim Pro (prayer times + qibla direction) all work across the US, Canada, and Mexico
  • Verify certification yourself: "Halal" on a menu doesn't always mean certified. Ask about the certifying body. In the US, look for HFSAA (Halal Food Standards Alliance of America) certification
  • Pack non-perishable halal snacks for stadium days and travel between cities, especially if attending matches in Kansas City, Monterrey, or Guadalajara
  • Book accommodation with a kitchen in cities with fewer halal options — self-catering is the most reliable fallback
  • Learn key phrases in Spanish for Mexican venues (see the Useful Phrases section below)

Halal Food at Stadiums

MetLife Stadium (New York/New Jersey): Shah's Halal Food became an official stadium partner in September 2025, with three concession locations (West Hall at MetLife Gate, Sections 126 and 314). This is the only venue with confirmed halal concessions as of March 2026. Menu includes chicken and lamb platters, gyros, falafel, and pakora chips.

Levi's Stadium (San Francisco Bay Area): Kabob Trolley has operated inside the stadium on game days, serving halal wraps.

All venues — general concessions: No blanket halal food policy has been announced for general admission concessions across all 16 venues.

Our recommendation: Do not rely on finding halal food inside stadiums (except MetLife). Eat before arriving, bring permitted snacks, or plan a post-match meal at a nearby restaurant.

New York / New Jersey

MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford | Availability: Easy

The NYC metro area is one of the best places in the world for halal food. With one of the largest Muslim populations in the US, halal options are everywhere — from Midtown Manhattan food carts to dedicated restaurants in every borough.

Near the stadium:

  • Mamoun's Falafel (84 Route 17, East Rutherford) — Middle Eastern chain, falafel and shawarma
  • German Doner Kebab (American Dream Mall, adjacent to MetLife) — kebabs and pita pockets
  • Inside MetLife Stadium: Shah's Halal Food operates three concession locations (see Stadium Food above)

Best neighborhoods for halal food:

Paterson, NJ (~20 miles from MetLife) — The single best halal food destination near the stadium. Large Arab-American and South Asian communities support dozens of halal restaurants along Main Street and surrounding blocks.

  • Al-Basha — Palestinian cuisine, widely considered the best Middle Eastern restaurant in New Jersey
  • Abu Rass (1057 Main St) — Palestinian daily specials, hand-slaughtered chicken
  • Tandoori Halal Food & Grill (293 Grand St) — Pakistani/Indian, tandoori chicken, lamb kebabs, fresh naan
  • Shah's Halal Food (755 Main St) — fresh grilled halal platters

Jackson Heights, Queens (~15 miles) — South Asian halal hub. Kabab King has been serving since 1996 — the chicken tikka roll is legendary.

Astoria, Queens — Zyara Restaurant (modern Palestinian family-style), Mr. Chang (one of NYC's only halal Beijing duck restaurants)

Bay Ridge, Brooklyn — Al Badawi (Palestinian classics including maklouba), Sahara Restaurant (Mediterranean kebabs and shawarma)

Manhattan — Halal food carts on nearly every Midtown corner. The Halal Guys chain originated here and has multiple locations.

Tips: You will not struggle to find halal food in the NYC area. Paterson, NJ is worth the 20-minute drive from MetLife for the best concentration of halal restaurants near the stadium. Jersey City, Edison, and Newark also have strong halal scenes.

Boston

Gillette Stadium, Foxborough | Availability: Moderate

Boston proper has solid halal options, but Gillette Stadium is 30 miles southwest in suburban Foxborough, where choices are very limited. Plan to eat in Boston before heading to the stadium.

Near the stadium: Options are sparse. A few halal-friendly spots exist in the Foxborough/Sharon/Attleboro area, but nothing walkable from Gillette. Angel's Cafe (Middle Eastern, ~5 miles from the stadium in Sharon) is the closest reliable option.

Best neighborhoods in Boston:

Allston — Emerging halal hub anchored by the Lazuri family of restaurants at the corner of North Beacon and Cambridge Streets. A single family runs four adjacent halal restaurants: Turkish Lazuri Cafe, Lazuri Bakery, Lazuri Chicken 'n Pizza, and Lazuri Taqueria. Covers Turkish, baked goods, comfort food, and halal Mexican.

Roxbury — Ashur Restaurant serves Somali cuisine (boneless lamb, sambusa, biryani) near the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center.

Cambridge — Silk Road Uyghur Cuisine (East Cambridge), The Helmand Restaurant (Afghan), Cafe Vanak (Persian), Masala Square Indian Kitchen

Downtown — The Halal Guys, Shah's Halal Food (multiple locations), Boston Shawarma

Tips: Eat in Boston before taking the commuter rail or driving to Foxborough. Allston is the best single neighborhood for halal variety. The Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (Roxbury) and Islamic Society of Boston (Cambridge) are community hubs near restaurant clusters.

Miami

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens | Availability: Moderate

Decent halal options exist across the metro area, but Miami Gardens (where Hard Rock Stadium is located) is a suburban area with limited choices. You'll need a car or rideshare to reach the best halal restaurants.

Near the stadium: Limited options in the immediate vicinity. Sufrat Mediterranean Grill and Shawarma Shack are in the broader Miami Gardens area. Plan to eat before arriving.

Best neighborhoods:

Doral (~15 miles south of Hard Rock Stadium) — The primary halal hub of South Florida, anchored by the Islamic Center of South Florida. Kebab Express (fast-casual halal), plus a concentration of Egyptian, Moroccan, Lebanese, and Pakistani restaurants, bakeries, and halal grocery stores.

Brickell — Talkin' Tacos (halal Mexican fusion, uses halal-certified meat in carne asada burritos and chicken quesadillas)

Tips: Hard Rock Stadium is suburban — halal restaurants are not walkable. Doral is your best bet for concentrated halal dining, about 15 minutes from the stadium. South Florida has an estimated 70,000+ Muslim residents, so halal groceries are widely available. The Halal Food Standards Alliance of America (HFSAA) has a Miami chapter certifying local restaurants.

Dallas

AT&T Stadium, Arlington | Availability: Easy (metro), Moderate (near stadium)

The DFW metroplex has one of the most diverse halal dining landscapes in the US, but AT&T Stadium is in Arlington — a suburban city between Dallas and Fort Worth with fewer options. The richest halal dining is 30–45 minutes north in Richardson and Plano.

Near the stadium (Arlington):

  • Abu Omar Halal (2300 W Division St, Arlington) — closest reliable halal to AT&T Stadium
  • New York Eats (604 Doug Russell Rd, Arlington) — all meat is Zabiha Halal

Kansas City

Arrowhead Stadium | Availability: Moderate

Kansas City has a smaller but growing halal scene. The Muslim community (Arab Americans, Pakistanis, and a significant Somali population) is centered in the Northeast area. The stadium area has no walkable halal options.

Near the stadium: Arrowhead Stadium is in a sports complex east of downtown with no halal restaurants nearby. Plan to eat before arriving or bring food.

Best neighborhoods:

Independence Avenue (Northeast KC) — The heart of KC's Somali and East African community. Multiple halal grocery stores line this corridor:

  • Al-Hallal Grocery (3009½ Independence Ave), Al Rahman Halal (2536 Independence Ave), Baraka Market (1447 Independence Ave), Hilaal Halal Market (2807 Independence Ave)
  • These markets sell prepared halal food, meats, and snacks — ideal for stocking up before a match

Restaurants:

  • Tasty Baghdad — 100% halal Iraqi/Middle Eastern, charcoal-grilled meats
  • Holy Land Cafe — long-running KC Middle Eastern staple
  • Habashi House — halal East African cuisine
  • Meddys — Mediterranean, excellent lamb

Tips: Kansas City is the most challenging US major sports city for halal food. Plan ahead — do not rely on finding halal near the stadium on match day. Independence Avenue's halal markets (about 15 minutes from the stadium) are a lifeline: stock up on prepared foods and snacks for tailgating. Delivery apps (DoorDash, Uber Eats) have halal filters and deliver to the stadium area.

Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara | Availability: Easy

The Bay Area has an enormous and well-served Muslim community, especially in the South Bay (Fremont, Milpitas, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara) where Levi's Stadium is located. Silicon Valley's tech workforce includes a large South Asian and Middle Eastern population, driving strong halal infrastructure.

  • iniBurger — 100% halal gourmet burgers, on the way to Levi's
  • The Halal Guys (2526 Augusteen Way, Santa Clara)

Tips: This is the best stadium situation of all major sports cities for halal food. Multiple halal restaurants are within minutes of Levi's Stadium, and Kabob Trolley has operated halal concessions inside the venue. The Muslim Community Association (MCA) in Santa Clara is a major mosque very close to the stadium. The Bay Area Halal Foodies Facebook group (~50,000 members) is an excellent real-time resource.

Los Angeles

SoFi Stadium, Inglewood | Availability: Easy

LA's extraordinary diversity means halal food is widely available. Inglewood specifically has a notable concentration of halal restaurants due to its Somali, East African, and Middle Eastern communities — making SoFi Stadium one of the better venues for nearby halal dining.

Lawndale (near Inglewood) — Al-Noor (Karachi-style Pakistani, open since 1998)

Tips: Inglewood's halal options are walkable or a short rideshare from SoFi Stadium. Eat in Inglewood rather than trying to drive to Westwood or Little Arabia before a match — LA traffic on match days will be severe. Discover Los Angeles (the city's official tourism site) publishes a curated guide to 32+ halal restaurants. HFSAA Los Angeles certifies restaurants — look for their stickers.

Toronto

BMO Field | Availability: Easy

Toronto is one of the best cities in North America for halal food, with hundreds of halal-certified restaurants spanning every cuisine. Halal certification is well-established and regulated in Ontario through the Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA Canada). BMO Field itself has offered halal concessions for Toronto FC matches — a rarity among North American sports venues.

Near the stadium:

  • Liberty Village / King Street West (short ride from BMO Field) — Karahi Boys (Pakistani wok-style, Namak Mandi Goat Karahi is the signature), plus several other halal spots
  • Parkdale (immediately north of Exhibition Place) — growing halal scene, home to Hamza Masjid, the closest mosque to BMO Field

Best neighborhoods:

Thorncliffe Park ("Little Pakistan") — East York neighborhood with the densest concentration of halal butchers, sweet shops, and South Asian eateries. Iqbal Halal Foods is one of Canada's largest South Asian grocery stores.

Tips: Toronto is effortless for halal food. BMO Field is served by Exhibition GO Station and the 509/511 streetcar lines, making downtown halal restaurants easily reachable before and after matches. Many mainstream grocery chains (Metro, Loblaws) carry halal-labeled meat sections. Look for HMA Canada certification.

Toronto city guide | BMO Field guide

Mexico City

Estadio Azteca | Availability: Moderate

Mexico City has the best halal food scene in Mexico, supported by a Muslim community of several thousand people and a historic Lebanese/Syrian immigrant population. There are roughly 12–15 halal or halal-friendly restaurants, concentrated in upscale neighborhoods. The Mexican Halal Authority (MEHA) operates from Mexico City.

Near the stadium: Estadio Azteca is in the Coyoacan/Tlalpan area of southern Mexico City, 30–45 minutes from where most halal restaurants are concentrated. No dedicated halal restaurants are in the immediate stadium vicinity. The nearby Coyoacan neighborhood has excellent seafood restaurants and vegetarian options at the Coyoacan market as fallbacks.

Best neighborhoods:

Polanco — Home to the best halal dining in the city.

  • Tandoor Mexico (Copernico 156) — Pakistani/Indian, halal
  • Dawat Restaurant & Bar (Av. Ejercito Nacional 676) — Indian, halal

Roma Sur — La Casbah (Campeche 174) — Algerian/Moroccan, halal. A trendy, walkable neighborhood.

Other options: El Rey del Falafel (Lebanese, various locations), Al Andalus (Lebanese, halal)

Tips: Eat in Polanco or Roma before taking the metro or taxi to Estadio Azteca. Uber Eats Mexico has a halal restaurant filter. Mexico's large Lebanese community means Lebanese restaurants run by Muslim families are your best bet beyond dedicated halal spots. "Tacos arabes" (Arab-style tacos) look like shawarma but are NOT halal unless specifically stated. Always confirm with staff (see Useful Phrases).

Mexico City city guide | Estadio Azteca guide

Guadalajara

Estadio Akron | Availability: Challenging

Guadalajara has a small but growing halal scene with roughly 6–8 dedicated halal or halal-friendly restaurants. The Muslim community is small, and traditional Mexican food poses challenges due to widespread use of pork lard (manteca). Estadio Akron is in suburban Zapopan with no halal options nearby.

Near the stadium: No dedicated halal restaurants near the stadium. The closest options are a 20–30 minute drive in central Guadalajara or Providencia. Street food vendors around the stadium sell tacos, tortas, and snacks — none will be halal-certified.

Halal restaurants in the city:

  • Restaurante Sahara — Comida Arabe Halal (C. Jose Bonifacio Andrada 2740) — Arab food, shawarma, kebab, falafel, kibbeh. The most well-known halal spot, rated 5.0 on TripAdvisor
  • Morocco Kebab Cocina Mediterranea — Moroccan/Mediterranean, 10+ years in Guadalajara
  • Al Meraj Grill & Pak Indian Cuisine — Pakistani/Indian, Providencia neighborhood
  • Ali Corner IndoPak Food — 100% halal Indo-Pakistani
  • Kebab Cairo — Egyptian, rated 4.7/5

Safe fallbacks: Seafood (mariscos) is your safest bet at non-halal restaurants — fish tacos, ceviche, shrimp dishes — but confirm the frying oil is not shared with pork products. Guacamole, fresh salsas, rice, and cheese quesadillas (on corn tortillas) are generally safe.

Tips: This is one of the most challenging major sports cities. Eat at a halal restaurant in the city before heading to the stadium. Bean dishes (frijoles) are risky — many Mexican restaurants cook beans with pork lard. Always ask (see Useful Phrases). Consider booking accommodation with a kitchen.

Guadalajara city guide | Estadio Akron guide

Monterrey

Estadio BBVA | Availability: Very Challenging

Monterrey has the most limited halal food options of all 16 major sports cities. The Muslim community is small, and dedicated halal restaurants can be counted on one hand. Monterrey is known for its carne asada (grilled meat) culture, and pork products are ubiquitous in local cuisine.

Near the stadium: Estadio BBVA is in the municipality of Guadalupe, east of central Monterrey. No halal food vendors have been confirmed near the stadium. Walking-distance dining is limited to standard Mexican fare.

Halal restaurants:

  • Arabicano (Comida y Dulces Arabe) (Felix Gonzalez Salinas #1120, Col. Ancon del Huajuco) — Arab food and sweets, halal and vegetarian. Phone: +52 81 1860 6821
  • Tandoor Mexico (Monterrey branch) — Pakistani/Indian, halal

Safe fallbacks: Seafood restaurants (mariscos) are your safest option. Monterrey has many "pollo asado" (roast chicken) restaurants — while not halal-slaughtered, some travelers consider this more acceptable than pork. This is a personal religious decision. San Pedro Garza Garcia (adjacent wealthy municipality) has upscale international restaurants where avoiding pork is easier, though meat will not be halal-slaughtered.

Tips: This is the most difficult city for halal food. Prepare accordingly:

  • Book accommodation with a kitchen so you can prepare your own meals
  • Contact the Centro Cultural Islamico de Monterrey for current halal food information and community contacts
  • Bring non-perishable halal snacks and instant meals from home or buy in the US before traveling to Monterrey
  • Stock up at halal groceries (ask the Islamic center for locations)
